FREE Gun Safety Presentation - "Be SMART"
Every year in the United States, at least 100 children aged 17 and under die in unintentional shootings, and over 500 die by suicide with a gun. Many of these deaths are entirely preventable with responsible gun safety and storage. The
“Be SMART” program is a nonpartisan public education campaign designed to reduce child deaths by educating adults - parents, grandparents and others - in how to help prevent these deaths by using 5 simple strategies:
Secure all guns in your home and vehicles
Model responsible behavior around guns
Ask about the presence of unsecured guns in other homes
Recognize the risks of teen suicide
Tell your peers to “Be SMART”
Please join us for this “Be SMART” presentation at 7:00pm on Weednesday, August 9, 2017 at the New Lenox Village Hall. To reserve you seat(s), please RSVP to Daniel Martin, Village of New Lenox Safe Community Coordinator, (815) 462-6493 or
dmartin@newlenox.net.
This presentation is sponsored by the New Lenox Police Department, the New Lenox Safe Communities America Coalition and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
