Jan 14 New Lenox Fire Foundation Pancake Breakfast

The New Lenox Fire Foundation pancake breakfasts are held at the New Lenox Fire Protection District’s Station 1, located at 261 E. Maple Street from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. 

The breakfasts are free to the public; however those who attend are encouraged to bring canned goods and other food items for the local food pantry.


Panckake breakfast dates are: November 12th, December 10th, January 14th, February 11th, and March 11th.

OPIATE RECOVERY GROUP
An Opiate recovery Group meets at Peace  Lutheran Church each Tuesday night from 7:00 ? 8:30 p.m. Are you or a loved one struggling with heroin or opiate dependence? This support group meeting is for those struggling, those who love someone struggling, or those who just want to learn about the epidemic of heroin and prescription pain medications in our community. Addiction is a family disease, because everyone in the family suffers if someone is addicted to or abusing drugs. Too many people lost in addiction feel hopeless. The good news is people can and do recover, and lead happy and productive lives. Please join us! For more information please contact Tom Moore at (815) 354-3195.

Jan 18 Parkinson's Support Group

The Parkinson?s Support Group was established for those with Parkinson?s disease and their families as a place to learn and share. During support group meetings, participants will have an opportunity to listen to speakers address topics of particular interest to individuals who have Parkinson?s disease, as well as their family members. Future topics of discussion include diet, speech and swallowing, sleep problems, family member involvement, stress management, and handwriting. Participants will also have an opportunity to share their experiences and learn from the experiences? of others.
 
The support group meets the third Wednesday of each month from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. (No meetings in July or December.) For more information, call 815.741.7562.

Jan 23 - Jan 31 One Warm Coat
One Warm Coat is a community service effort assisting in the collection of clean, reusable coats and jackets for donation to local individuals free of charge. Peace Church is following in its mission to give away coats to people of all ages. Our Good Shepherd group is coordinating this, and invites you to help those in need with one warm coat. Items can be dropped off here at church in the entrance area bin. Scarfs, hats, gloves/mittens and boots will also be accepted. Thank you for your continued support. The coat drive ends Jan. 31.
