World Suicide Prevention Day
In support of World Suicide Prevention Day, the New Lenox Safe Communities America Coalition is hosting A Pathway to Hope and Healing. Community agencies involved with suicide prevention and awareness will host an information expo, followed by a panel discussion. The discussion will include first hand accounts from individuals whose lives have been touched by suicide including: a family member who lost a loved one to suicide, a crisis line worker, someone who has attempted suicide and a mental health professional. The panel wil be followed by a Remembrance and Awareness Walk around the Village Commons with suicide awareness ribbons for participants. Closing remarks will be made by Mayor Tim Baldermann

ShareFest New Lenox: Recyclepalooza
On Saturday, September 10, ShareFest will offer a free reuse/recycling event that allows Will County residents the opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste, electronics, Styrofoam, and scrap metal and more.
ShareFest will also accept clothing, books, household goods, pet-related items, non-perishable food, and items for the troops during this time.
This collection event will take place at Spencer School Campus, 1711 S. Spencer Rd, New Lenox, IL 60451.

Wouldn't it be nice to know what to expect before you're expecting? Drs. Kathy Slugocki and Nicole Orwar, obstetrician/gynecologists with offices in Mokena, will cover everything from pinpointing ovulation to pre-pregnancy tips to setting the record straight on all those pregnancy myths on Thursday, Sept. 15. AFTERGLOW Stroke Support Group
Attendees may utilize the free valet service at the Madison St. entrance #2. Wheelchairs will be provided along with walking assistance to the Auditorium as needed. AFTERGLOW provides support to stroke survivors and their caregivers. The group is survivor driven, facilitated by professionals, offering support, education, and resources to transition into a new normal.

Parkinson's Support Group
The Parkinson?s Support Group was established for those with Parkinson?s disease and their families as a place to learn and share. During support group meetings, participants will have an opportunity to listen to speakers address topics of particular interest to individuals who have Parkinson?s disease, as well as their family members. Future topics of discussion include diet, speech and swallowing, sleep problems, family member involvement, stress management, and handwriting. Participants will also have an opportunity to share their experiences and learn from the experiences? of others.
The support group meets the third Wednesday of each month from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. (No meetings in July or December.) For more information, call 815.741.7562.
