Oct 3 Foodie 5K

The Foodie 5K is a chip-timed fun run/walk. All walkers, baby strollers, and wheelchairs will start after all runners. 
 

Paid participants will receive a $2 Food Truck voucher to be used during the post-run festival. Participants to register on, or before Sept. 11 will receive a 2015 Foodie 5K moisture wicking, long sleeved t-shirt. This event will SELL OUT. Earlybird registration ends Friday, Sept. 11!

Course Information: 
The 5K run is a USATF certified course #IL15028WR using pit row of the Chicagoland Speedway racetrack. 

Additional Information: 
Bicycles, inline skates, roller skates, scooters, and pets are not allowed on the course.

Awards will be presented on the stage in Winner's Circle to the top male and female overall finishers in each age group.

$1 donated can provide $8 worth of groceries for a family in need. All Foodie 5K participants and volunteers are encouraged to fundraise.

Oct 10 New Lenox Fire Protection District Open House

New Lenox area residents are invited to attend the New Lenox Fire Protection District’s (NLFPD) Open House. This year it will be held on Saturday, October 10 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Station 1, 261 E. Maple.
 
“Open House has become an annual event held during Fire Safety Week,” said Marisa Schrieber, NLFPD Fire and Life Safety Educator. “This year we are planning some fun and educational activities that all ages will enjoy.”
 
NLFPD will be providing truck rides, children’s activities, and an appearance from Sparky the Fire Dog at the Open House. A special side-by-side burn demonstration will also take place during the day. Hotdogs, chips, sno-cones, and drinks will also be provided to those who attend.
 
In addition to the activities, several area businesses and organizations will also be providing information and free services such as blood pressure screenings and children’s IDs.

Oct 12 Annual Cheerleading Clinic and Breakfast Food Drive

Providence Catholic High School's Cheerleading Program will host its Annual Cheer Clinic and Breakfast Food Drive for students in grades kindergarten through 8 on Monday, October 12 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Individuals and teams are welcome.  The cost is $40 per participant, which includes a PC cheerleading tee shirt and a pass to regular PCHS home athletic events for the 2015-16 season. Participants are asked to register by September 18, but walk-ins are welcome. 
 
The Varsity Cheerleading Celtics are the 2013 State Champions, five-time Sectional Champions, and five-time National Champions.  During the clinic, participants will have the opportunity to learn chants, cheers, motions, jumps, and stunt with the Celtic cheerleaders and coaches.   A light snack will be provided during the clinic, but participants are asked to bring their own water and a non-perishable breakfast item to donate to a local food pantry.  Parents are invited to watch their child perform a special routine at noon.

Oct 17 New Lenox Fire Foundation Pancake Breakfast

The New Lenox Fire Foundation pancake breakfasts will be starting up again for the winter months. The breakfasts are held at the New Lenox Fire Protection District’s Station 1, located at 261 E. Maple Street from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. one Saturday per month from October through March.

The breakfasts are free to the public; however those who attend are encouraged to bring canned goods and other food items for the local food pantry.

The first breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, October 17th. Other pancake breakfast dates are: November 14th, December 12th, January 9th, February 13th, and March 12th.

We will play Candy Corn Bingo, Monster Bozo Buckets, Monster Freeze Tag and listen to a Halloween story and spooky monster music. A light dinner will be provided with treat bags to enjoy on the way home.
