Screening Colonoscopy
According to the American Cancer Society, colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Starting at age 50, men and women who don’t have a history of polyps or colon cancer should have a colonoscopy every 10 years. To encourage patients to get this vital test, Gatto’s Restaurants is giving patients a $20 Gift Certificate when they have a screening colonoscopy at Silver Cross Hospital between March 1 to Sept. 30, 2015. Call 1-888-660-HEAL or visit www.silvercross.org for a referral to a physician on the Silver Cross Medical Staff who performs colonoscopies.

Rededication of Veterans Memorial
Rededication of Veterans Memorial
Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 AM
On September 27, 2014 the New Lenox Veterans Memorial was vandalized, causing considerable damage to the Monuments dedicated to each branch of our Armed Services.
Our Community came together. A fund was established by the local VFW Post 9545 and combined with insurance proceeds through the Village of New Lenox - approximately $55,000 was raised. These funds enabled complete restoration of the monuments and permitted an additional expansion to be constructed to honor the Fallen Soldiers and Purple Heart Veterans.
The work is expected to be finished for the Memorial’s Rededication on August 22, 2015 at 11am, which is the 11 year anniversary from its original Dedication.
The restoration/upgrades to the Memorial are as follows:
- The 5 Original service monuments replaced with similar design
- Entrance monument replaced with an upgraded size and brushed aluminum dedication plaque
- Extension wing added with a new Purple Heart monument and flag to include new paver area
- Extension wing added with a Fallen Soldier Monument and Flag to include new paver area
- Sound system added that plays Taps every day at sunset
- Additional landscape improvements
The Village of New Lenox would like to thank everyone who donated to the Restoration Fund, as well as all the companies who donated time and materials to restoring the Memorial. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
